Art sits comfortably along side death but how comfortably does an artist sit in the space of death? Well a funeral parlour to be precise. ‘Time Dream & Reflection’ is a sensitive response to the unconventional gallery space. Chris Avis continues to explore the human condition from her perspective as an older, female artist.
“Searching beneath the surface by unpacking the layers that we keep secure is a fundamental aspect of my work”
Using multiple layers of digital manipulation on her own photography Chris Avis’ work is often nostalgic, beautifully melancholic and tender.
Debbie Malynn will be in conversation with the artist, Thursday 29th February delving deeper into her work as we discuss loss in life, life in loss and the fragility and honesty of facing our own mortality.
