Hello, my name is Jo, and I am a fully qualified independent celebrant.
As your celebrant, I will guide and support you in creating a ceremony that truly reflects the life, values and personality of your loved one.
Like many people who are drawn to this work, my own experiences of loss and grief have shaped who I am and how I meet others. They have given me a deep respect for the courage it takes to say goodbye, and a clear understanding of the care required when supporting families at such a vulnerable time.
I am friendly and approachable, dependable and reliable. I am an empathetic listener, and I understand the weight of meeting you at your most fragile. I will walk alongside you through this overwhelming time, offering gentle guidance and steady support, so that together we can honour both your loved one’s life and their death.
I am a creative and intuitive celebrant, full of ideas about what is possible. Whether you are seeking something traditional or more alternative, I will help you create a ceremony that feels right for you, personal, meaningful and unhurried.
At the heart of my work is the belief that a funeral, while a time of grief and remembrance, can also hold moments of warmth, celebration and even quiet joy. Families often tell me that I have helped turn a very sad occasion into something beautiful and deeply special.
Music is a huge part of my life, and music and funerals are inextricably linked. As a professional singer, I am sometimes asked to sing during ceremonies, which is always an honour. Whether classical, folk or popular music, I can transform a loved one’s favourite song into something deeply moving and entirely unique.
A little about me
Before becoming a celebrant, I spent over twenty years working as a singer and actress in the West End. Becoming a celebrant felt like a natural calling, a way to bring together storytelling, presence, creativity and care.
I am a mum to three wonderful boys. I love Earl Grey tea, Marmite, Côtes du Rhône, Arsenal, Formula One and long family walks, not necessarily in that order.
