Bruce has an eclectic background in show business, broadcasting and local government registration. He creates ceremonies that honour personal journeys during life’s most meaningful transitions
I come from Northampton with a background in pop music, nightclub promotion, broadcasting and local government registration.
I’ve worked as a delivery driver and model; a radio presenter and barman, a corporate event planner and film distributor. I conducted my first wedding in 2007, my first funeral in 2010 and have now honed my professional experience in well over a thousand ceremonies.
I received training as a registrar with Westminster Council and as a celebrant with Celebrate People in Glasgow and am currently an associate of Humankind, a progressive campaigning Humanist group in Edinburgh.
Although my ceremonies are primarily secular, I am happy to involve spiritual or religious elements when my clients feel that’s appropriate. I bring a wry, thoughtful and inventive approach to developing ceremonies that reflect the unique lives, values, and cultures of who I’m working with. I have also presented occasions as disparate as plumbing awards and Holocaust Day remembrance at the Imperial War Museum
My extensive experience as an event planner gives me the comprehensive surety to listen and then structure ceremonies. Whilst my background as a singer and lyricist helps me project people’s histories at crucial moments in people’s lives.
Much of my professional life has been dedicated to creating spaces where people can express joy and compassion. I love working closely with individuals and couples, families and friends to co-create devotions, rituals, and goodbyes that resonate with peoples’ experiences.
Everyone deserves to be honoured in a way that feels authentic and true to who they are.
