The Fitzrovia Chapel is an enchanting jewel of Byzantine inspired architecture located in the heart of the Fitzrovia, Central London. This Grade II listed chapel exudes grace, beauty, history and gothic charm. Gilt mosaic walls and rib vaulted ceilings, exquisite stained glass windows this venue wow’s you on arrival. It’s intimate size holds you giving comfort in a time of sadness. It has always been a nondenominational chapel allowing all faiths and beliefs to hold a service or ceremony as required.
The now called, Fitzrovia Chapel was designed by John Loughborough Pearson — RIBA Gold Medal recipient and architect of Truro Cathedral and St Augustine’s, Kilburn — and commissioned by the Middlesex Hospital as a dedicated space for peace, prayer and reflection. Construction began in 1891, though Pearson died before its completion; his son Frank took over, and the finished chapel is the work of both men. The £2 million restoration of the chapel was carried out by conservation architects Caroe & Partners between 2013 and 2015 to present this incredible, rare gem that we see today.
